One fire mishap every 36 hours is what the fire brigade has to clash with in Secunderabad."On an average in Secunderabad, around 250 accidents are reported in a year.We receive at least one complain every 36 hours, which is almost double, compared to any other part of the city," said a commune from the Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department.

Recording the number of fire accidents from Secunderabad, authorities said that inflammable products being stored inside shops was one of the main reasons behind such incidents.Series of fire accidents in Secunderabad have troubled residents in the area who blame inflammable petroleum products stored in commercial establishments running inside residential buildings without following basic fire safety norms.

"There are houses located in and around establishments which have stored combustible petroleum products. These establishments do not have fire safety or fire-fighting equipment.

The condition of the shops and godowns is much the same with no fire safety measures. The paint godowns, courier offices are also a major threat," said V Kumar, a resident of BHEL Colony located in Rasoolpura (Secunderabad). "While paint is combustible, the courier service has a lot of carton boxes, which can catch fire easily," he regretted.
