As many as 50 turmeric farmers under Telangana Turmeric Farmers Association would be filing nominations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha Constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The Turmeric Farmers Association Nizamabad district president P Tirupati Reddy said that about 50 farmers from Armoor, Balkonda and Nizamabad would be going to Varanasi and would be filing nominations.

The farmers from Erode from Tamil Nadu led by V K Daivaligamani would also be filing nominations. ''Our main intention is get Turmeric Board and MSP for Crop. We will not be campaigning against or for any candidate. We will be meeting political parties for solving our problems,'' said Reddy.

Tirupati Reddy said that the farmers filing nominations in Nizamabad was a welcome move. However, he alleged the Congress and BJP used the farmers fight to their political advantage and targeted TRS leader K Kavitha. We believe that our main issue got diverted because of this, he opined.
